Introduction- நல்வரவு

Welcome to my blog dedicated to the Great saint of North India Kabirdas. Here is a humble attempt to translate his Dohas which inspire millions across the world for its simplicity and depth of philosophical content. For those who are famliar with tamil literature often he very much reminds the words of Tirumoolar, Ouvaiyaar, Valluvar, Pattinathu Adigal etc. This only goes to show how great saints spoke the Truth in a universal sense irrespective of their time, place of birth(region) or language.

Translation is an area not many would like to dare. While the challenge is to bringout the greatness of the original author, the limitations of language, vocabulary and understanding of the translator many a time leaves a big gap in what was said and what is being understood!

Will it be possible for any one to translate the Kural "பற்றுக பற்றற்றான் பற்றினை" in to any other language with the kind of use of பற்று in three different meanings ?
Yet I venture in to this difficult and risky task of translation and hope all readers (and Saint Kabirdas too) will bear with me for my limitations and ignorance.
I humbly request all knowledgeable Tamil scholars to guide and correct the compositions so that greatness of the saint spreads in its true glory.

Some of the self imposed restrictions for the translations are:

1. It is the core meaning and spirit of expression that is more important than the literal meaning of words.
2. The usage of "Kabir" whenever occurs (this is known as mudra) is not only maintained but also should appear as many times as he used in any particular doha.

As I am ignorant of yappilakkanam I wish to get guided by you all in this matter.

MAY KABIR BLESS ALL
